FAQ

There always seems to be that long list of questions that pop up. So hopefully this post can answer any you might have.

  1. How do I order? You can call, Email us, or message us. Here's the link to our Facebook page She Makes Cupcakes. Here's what we need to know: When...the date and time. What...how many dozen and what flavor(s). Where...need your delivery address and email address and phone number. Those are the basics we need. We will get back with you in person and confirm your order and ask detail questions to make sure we know exactly what you need.
  2. Can't I just order online? Due to Texas Cottage Kitchen Laws (which we are very thankful for), our business is a face to face business. However, for your convenience we have included an online form to begin the process. As soon as you submit your order, we will get back with you and give you a call.
  3. I would like some cupcakes shipped. Can you do that? Unfortunately, no. Texas Cottage Kitchen laws do not allow us to ship.
  4. Do you take checks? No. We do like cash, however.
  5. Do you take credit cards? Yes! We have a PayPal account and take Visa, MasterCard, Amercan Express, and Discover...and other PayPal account payments.
  6. Do you deliver? Yes, it's a small charge of $5.00 for most Houston addresses. Outside that area, it depends on the distance. Ask and we will let you know at the time of your order before you are charged.
  7. Where do you deliver? If when someone asks you where do you live and you reply with "near Houston Texas"...then more than likely we deliver to you. Just ask.
  8. Can I pick up my cupcakes? Of course.
  9. When do I need to pay? We do request payment in full as soon as you receive our invoice, which is usually the same day you order. When you order, we start planning and shopping exclusively for your creation. We are a small business and do not keep large amounts of supplies on hand.
  10. If I rent a display from you for my special event, when can I expect my deposit back? Rental deposits will be returned within 10 days once rented items are returned to us in clean and good condition.
  11. Rentals...what are you renting? We will have a selection of cupcake platforms and displays.
  12. Do you do cakes...you know, like the big ones? Yes! We have now included all sizes and types of cakes.
  13. Will you do wedding cake and cupcake orders? Most definitely!
  14. Do you have a minimum order? Yes. You must order at least one dozen standard sized cupcakes and two dozen mini cupcakes.
  15. Will you use my recipe to recreate Great Aunt Bertha's honeydew lemon cake...or something similar? No. The recipes I use for my cakes have been tested by me and I know what to expect at the time I'm baking them. I personally, do not like surprises! Also, from experience, it's hard to reproduce memories.
  16. Will you ever go up on your costs? I would love to say no, however, if my own grocery bill is any indication, eventually I will need to.
  17. What are your prices? Please check out or price charts. They can give you all the information.
  18. Will you do special order dietary needs bakery items? At this time, no. Some of the allergies that are out there have requirements that I'm unable to meet. All of my cakes will have eggs, milk, wheat, and some will have nuts or peanuts. I do not knowingly have any soy products in my kitchen, but some of the products I use may have trace amounts. Please be aware when ordering.
  19. How quickly can you get an order to me? 48 hours for most orders. Since I am a Cottage Kitchen, I do have another job that also requires my attention. Add in family time, church time, volunteer time and study time. Yep, 48 hours. I want to make sure that I have all ingredients on hand and you receive the very finest product from my kitchen to your table. For larger orders (servings greater than 100) at least a week.
  20. Will you do character cupcakes? No. It is illegal for me to recreate some of the amazing characters out there. This includes Minions, Spider-Man, Batman, and the list goes on. I am able to color the cupcake icing to match any picks or items you want to place on there once you receive them. I would need a color swatch at the time you order. Any tinted icing will need to be done in white buttercream only. I can do some images that are licensed for an additional fee. Please ask.
  21. Do you make cupcakes with liquors and other alcoholic beverages? No. We do not a license to handle alcohol.
Well, there you have it. I'm sure I've forgotten a question...or two. Let us know if you have one we didn't write down.
