Here I Go Again!

It's amazing how sometimes you come full circle. In the mid 70's as a preteen, I started a dessert catering business that specialized in cakes for all occasions. My first wedding cake was taller than I was.  I was 13.

I don't have any of the many pictures of the hundreds of cakes I created...they've been lost over the last 40 years. I do have a lot of sweet memories of the many people whose lives I had the privilege of intersecting during important milestones in their lives.

This time around, I will be focusing on the small things...the personal sized cupcake. Does that mean I won't do cakes? Maybe on occasion...but not too much.

In this blog, I will be experimenting with cake and icing recipes, enticing flavor combinations, and presentation. I will try to be very honest about what works and what fails. I will also be giving honest testimony of my daily walk with Jesus.

Here are some brief statistics of my 40+ years baking career:
Largest Cake: Wedding cake that served 900.
Oldest Anniversary: 125th...for First Baptist Church San Marcos.
Tallest Wedding Cake: 6' off the table.
Most cakes made in a weekend: 72. This included 5 three tier wedding cakes.
Age when I started decorating cakes: 11.

So there you have it...a very brief look at 40+ years of baking. This time around, it's cupcakes, please. Give me a yell, a hello, a text, a phone call if you want to order. I have my pen in hand!
